The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is pleased to announce that Zahra Dehghani Tafti, an incoming PhD student, has been selected as the sole Faculty of Engineering recipient of the Maks Wulkan Graduate Scholarship for Fall 2025.
Valued at up to $50,000, the scholarship supports one outstanding doctoral student each year who is registered full-time in an engineering PhD program. Selection is based on academic excellence and a demonstrated interest in human-factors engineering. Zahra’s strong academic record and commitment to research in this area made her an ideal candidate.
Zahra will begin her doctoral studies this fall under the supervision of Dr. Kerstin Dautenhahn, Canada 150 Research Chair in Intelligent Robotics.
This award is made possible thanks to a generous donation from Maks Wulkan (BASc ’97, Electrical Engineering), a proud Waterloo Engineering alumnus who is committed to supporting the next generation of engineering researchers.
Congratulations Zahra!
